Hong Kong short track speed skater Joey Lam Ching-yan achieved the territory's best-ever Winter Olympics result by placing seventh in the women's 1500m final at Milano Cortina 2026, earning congratulations and a HK$375,000 award from the Hong Kong Jockey Club.
The Hong Kong Jockey Club congratulated Joey Lam Ching-yan today for her historic seventh-place finish in the women's 1500m short track speed skating final at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games.
This marks the highest-ever achievement by a Hong Kong, China athlete at a Winter Olympics.
In recognition, the Club will present Lam with a HK$375,000 cash award under its Athlete Incentive Awards Scheme.
The scheme provides incentives for Hong Kong, China, athletes placing fifth to eighth in individual events at the Olympic Winter Games.
Launched in 2023 for three years, the program sees the Club sponsor the Hong Kong Sports Institute to deliver cash rewards to athletes who excel in major international competitions.
