Cleaning bottle explodes on Causeway Bay tram, injuring female passenger

A female passenger was injured on a Causeway Bay tram near the Central Library when a cleaning bottle exploded on Friday night.

A passenger carrying cleaning fluid boarded the tram yesterday, and the bottle suddenly burst around 11pm, sending fragments that struck a nearby woman.

The tram driver immediately alerted the police.

Firefighters and police arrived to assist and investigate the scene.

Tram service was disrupted, causing long queues.

The cause remains under investigation.
