Man and woman die after found in car in suspected charcoal-burning suicide

One man and one woman were discovered unconscious inside a private car at the car park of Siu Sai Wan Estate Phase 3 on Lunar New Year’s Eve (Feb 16) and were rushed to hospital, where they were later pronounced dead, in what authorities believe to be a suicide by charcoal burning.

Paramedics arrived at the scene around 3pm after receiving reports and provided emergency treatment before transporting the two to hospital. Unfortunately, both could not be saved despite the efforts.

Police inspecting a black private car on the top level of the car park recovered a bag of charcoal and a metal bowl with burn marks. The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
