Badly decomposed 10-meter whale carcass found on Sai Kung beach

A severely decomposed whale carcass was found on the shore of Ham Tin Wan on Thursday morning.

Authorities were alerted around 10am after locals reported a strong odor emanating from the remains of the large whale,  which measures approximately 10 meters in length.

It is believed the whale had been dead for some time before being carried to shore by the heavy waves. 

Footage and images have circulated on social media, with one filmer heard saying, "It has already decomposed, smelling really bad."

The investigation is ongoing.
