Cathay Pacific cancelled its CX507 flight from Osaka to Hong Kong on Sunday due to a technical problem shortly before its scheduled 6.05pm departure, the airline confirmed.
The airline said engineers are inspecting and repairing the aircraft. It apologized for the inconvenience and immediately arranged alternative flights for affected customers.
For passengers requiring an overnight stay in Osaka, the airline is providing compensation or hotel accommodation. Meal vouchers were issued to all passengers during the wait.
A passenger shared a timeline online, noting the original boarding time was 5.35pm. By 5.43pm, staff were preparing vouchers; the cancellation was announced at 6.17pm. Six or seven ground staff handled voucher distribution while others managed communications.
Order was maintained, with some passengers sharing hotel booking tips. By 8pm, passengers were guided to re-enter Japan via a special immigration counter. The passenger completed procedures by 8.20pm.
