Nicknamed “Dinosaur,” the man was said to have a long-term habit of abusing “space oil,” commonly known as Etomidate, and was described as quiet and often talking to himself, according to the owner.
“He rarely stayed indoors. He would come back to change clothes, stay a short while, then leave again,” the owner said. “He often talked to himself and seemed unwell. I had been considering asking him to leave.”
Police said the man had previous convictions for drug trafficking, assaulting officers, and possession of offensive weapons. After the shooting, officers recovered about 1kg of methamphetamine and an extendable baton.
Witnesses reported seeing him wandering near Tai Hing Street Market earlier Thursday, talking to himself, before the incident at Donki in Tuen Mun Town Plaza.
