Hong Kong Customs has seized about 7,800 counterfeit items with an estimated market value of HK$4.8 million at Hong Kong International Airport.
The seizure was made on January 2 after officers, acting on risk assessment, inspected two air cargo consignments from Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. The shipments were declared to contain clothing and footwear.
Officers found large quantities of suspected counterfeit goods hidden among the cargo, including shoes, handbags, clothing and accessories.
Preliminary investigations showed the goods were intended for transshipment to overseas markets.
Customs said investigations are ongoing.
