The Hong Kong Jockey Club will hold a race day on January 18 at Sha Tin Racecourse to honor Hong Kong athletes for their record performance at the 15th National Games, where they won nine gold, two silver and eight bronze medals.
A cheque presentation ceremony for the Jockey Club Athlete Incentive Awards Scheme will be held at the race meeting. Among the medalists attending are cyclist Ceci Lee Sze-wing (three golds), swimmer Siobhan Haughey (two golds, two bronzes), cyclist Chloe Leung Wing-yee (gold), fencers Edgar Cheung Ka-long and Ryan Choi Chun-yin (gold), fencer Kaylin Hsieh (bronze) and swimmer Adam Mak Sai-ting (bronze).
Also attending will be Chief Secretary Chan Kwok-ki, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Rosanna Law, Hong Kong Sports Institute chairman Tang King-shing, Jockey Club chairman Martin Liao and CEO Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges.
The feature race will be the 15th National Games Hong Kong Medallists Cup. Other races will be named after sports in which Hong Kong won medals: rugby sevens, triathlon, sailing, fencing, swimming, cycling and tennis.
