A basement party room in Tsim Sha Tsui caught fire early Saturday morning, with thick smoke billowing from the premises, though firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze and no injuries were reported.
A fire broke out around 5am today in the basement unit of a party room located at 18-20 Kimberley Road. Police received the report, and firefighters arrived promptly to bring the flames under control.
Approximately 20 guests from nearby hotels evacuated on their own and waited across the street, some still in their sleepwear due to the early hour.
At the scene, a woman believed to be the party room’s female manager arrived later, and firefighters provided her with a smoke mask before escorting her into the basement to assess the situation.
Initial investigations suggest the fire started from miscellaneous items in the rear alley of the party room.
As no natural cause has been identified, authorities are treating the incident as suspected arson and continuing their inquiry.
