The short video, posted on Threads on 7 January, shows the water sloshing as the train moves, making the strip appear to swim energetically. Netizens quickly dubbed it a “dynamic aquarium,” a “water park on rails,” and an “MTR fish tank.”
Many jokingly suggested turning it into a real feature by adding small fish, colorful mountain stream fish, glitter for a “flowing sand” effect, or even a tiny boat, predicting it would become a popular photo spot and Hong Kong feature.
Others humorously called it an anti-motion-sickness design—“just stare at it the whole journey”—while a few admitted to mistaking the strip for a snake and getting scared.
MTR responded to media inquiries that maintenance staff are investigating the issue and will follow up accordingly.
