An off-duty policeman was arrested for alleged drunk driving after his car crashed into a Police Tactical Unit vehicle outside the Kowloon East police headquarters in Ngau Tau Kok on Tuesday night.
The accident occurred around 11pm on Hoi Ting Road. No one was injured. The driver failed a breathalyzer test and was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, careless driving, failing to stop after an accident and failing to report an accident.
He has been charged with one count each of those four offences and will appear at Kwun Tong Magistrates' Courts on January 15.
Police said the officer has been suspended, stressing the force does not tolerate illegal acts by any member and will deal with them seriously.
It is understood the scene was the Kowloon East police headquarters, and the damaged police vehicle was a PTU car.
