A 37-year-old woman was arrested and subdued with pepper spray after a dispute over beef quality escalated at a Tai Po hotpot restaurant on Saturday.

The incident occurred around 2.30pm at a chain restaurant in Tai Po Mega Mall. The woman allegedly threw bowls and plates, injuring the right hand of a 53-year-old female staff member.
When two male and one female officer arrived, the woman became agitated, refusing to cooperate and citing reasons such as “men and women should not touch.” As officers attempted to handcuff her for arrest, she resisted violently.

Video footage shows officers pinning her to the floor amid overturned tables and chairs. After she continued to struggle, they used pepper spray. The woman was eventually arrested for disorderly conduct in a public place, common assault and resisting arrest.
The injured staff member declined hospital treatment. The case is being handled by the Tai Po district crime squad.
