Airport police arrested a 62-year-old Hong Kong man on Friday after security staff discovered a suspected extendable baton hidden in his checked luggage bound for the United States.

The man was detained yesterday for breaching the Aviation Security Ordinance and released on bail pending further investigation by the Airport District Criminal Investigation Team.
Authorities reminded travelers that carrying prohibited weapons like telescopic batons or pepper spray in either checked or carry-on luggage is illegal, with a maximum penalty of five years imprisonment upon conviction.
