A 74-year-old Filipino man was arrested for allegedly stealing jewellery worth about HK$130,000 from a Mong Kok shop on Sunday afternoon.
Police were called to a jewellery store on Nathan Road at about 1pm after staff reported a foreign man had taken the items and attempted to flee. Officers arrived to find the man detained by store employees.
All the stolen goods were recovered from the suspect, who holds a passport. He was arrested on suspicion of theft and remains in custody. The case is being handled by Mong Kok district crime squad.
