Man arrested for cigarette theft at Tin Shui Wai mall, also had another's ID

A 36-year-old man was arrested at Tin Shui Wai's Tin Shui Shopping Centre on Monday night after allegedly stealing cigarettes from a convenience store and being found in possession of another person's identification documents.

Police received a report from a female convenience store clerk that a man had taken a pack of cigarettes without payment. A male store employee pursued the suspect outside, leading to a physical altercation before passersby assisted in restraining the man.

Video circulating online shows the black-shirted man pinned to the ground shouting during the confrontation. Upon police arrival, officers discovered another man's identity card, Mainland Travel Permit and Octopus card in the suspect's possession.

The man was arrested for theft and possession of another person's identity documents. He was handcuffed and detained inside the convenience store for investigation.
