Crack found on rail near Sunny Bay Station, Tung Chung and Airport Express services delayed

MTR Corporation has reported a crack discovered on the track near Sunny Bay Station, requiring trains to reduce speed while passing the affected section.

Engineering crews have installed temporary reinforcement components to secure the track section for safety, with permanent rail replacement scheduled during overnight maintenance. Travel times between Tsing Yi and Tung Chung Station on the Tung Chung Line, and between Tsing Yi and AsiaWorld-Expo Station on the Airport Express, are extended by approximately 5-8 minutes.

MTR explained that railway tracks are secured to roadbeds with steel fasteners approximately every two feet along the entire line. Even if cracks develop, these fasteners maintain track position to ensure safe train operation.
