As recovery efforts continue following the catastrophic fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po, new figures show the scale of the operation to save animals inside the buildings.

Firefighters have rescued 209 animals alive from the estate, as emergency crews continue sweeping the fire-damaged estate where hundreds of pets remain unaccounted for.
The Fire Services Department said that between Saturday night and Sunday night alone, crews retrieved 91 animals from the blocks, with 73 found alive. Survivors included cats, dogs, turtles, and fish.

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) said residents have so far reported 339 missing pets. While most animals rescued to date have survived, firefighters confirmed that 63 rescued animals were found dead.
The SPCA said it is maintaining contact with pet owners and offering assistance as the search for missing animals expands.
