The No. 5 alarm fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po has shocked the world, with numerous enterprises and organizations donating to support residents of the district.
The Li Ka Shing Foundation donated HK$30 million to set up an emergency assistance fund to support registered charities, especially in Tai Po, providing immediate aid and recovery assistance to impacted families.
Li Ka-shing -- founder of CK Hutchison -- expressed deep sadness and extended condolences for all affected and announced an additional HK$50 million for ongoing recovery support to aid community rebuilding.
Sino Group, along with the Ng Teng Fong Charitable Foundation, donated HK$20 million to support relief efforts and arranged 160 guest rooms at Hong Kong Gold Coast Hotel, The Royal Pacific Hotel, and The Fullerton Ocean Park Hotel Hong Kong to provide complimentary accommodation for those in need.
The Group said it is deeply saddened by the incident and extends heartfelt condolences to all affected residents and the Fire Services Department.
The Chow Tai Fook Group donated HK$20 million and pledged to provide temporary accommodation, food, clothing and essentials to aid Wang Fuk Court residents. Their volunteer teams will also assist the government with follow-up support.
Henderson Land Group announced that the Lee Shau Kee Foundation will donate HK$30 million to provide emergency relief and transitional accommodation for the fire victims and extended their heartfelt condolences to all victims and their families.
The Xiaomi and Tencent Foundation each contributed HK$10 million for medical aid, emergency housing, and transitional support for affected residents.
ANTA Sports Products announced a donation of HK$30 million, including HK$10 million in cash and HK$20 million in warm gear, to assist those in need during this transitional period.
The mainland e-commerce platform “YangXiaoMie,” newly listed in Hong Kong, announced a HK$1 million donation from its parent company, Quantgroup, to support the families affected.
The Red Cross Society of China has pledged 2 million yuan, while The Community Chest of Hong Kong has allocated HK$50 million in immediate relief for the victims.
