Woman found dead in Mong Kok loft; illegal gambling den discovered

A 33-year-old woman was found dead in a Mong Kok loft on Tuesday afternoon (Nov 25), with police uncovering an illegal gambling operation and drug paraphernalia at the scene. A 49-year-old man alleged to be in charge of the den has been arrested.

The incident occurred around 2 pm at a tong lau on Tung Choi Street, where the woman was found unconscious in a loft unit by a friend. Emergency services confirmed her death at the scene.

Police, assisted by sniffer dogs, collected evidence including a suspected “crystal meth” pipe and an electronic cigarette.

According to sources, the woman reportedly had a history of substance use, but the exact cause of death will be confirmed by a post-mortem examination.

The 49-year-old man faces charges of operating a gambling establishment and possessing equipment for drug use.

The case is under investigation.
