Firefighters responded to the scene at around 9pm, deploying two jets and two breathing apparatus teams to combat the blaze. They rescued two trapped individuals and evacuated 30 people to safety. No injuries were reported.
The fire was extinguished by approximately 11pm. The affected unit was a second-floor residence with rooftop access occupied by a family of four. Preliminary investigation suggests the fire started when a power strip in the unit began smoking.
