A 43-year-old man has been found dead after falling from a cliff in Tai Lam Country Park during a solo hiking trip.
Police received a report from the man's family on Sunday stating they had lost contact with him after he left his Kwun Tong residence Saturday morning to hike at Kau Keng Shan in Tuen Mun.
Search teams comprising police, fire services and the Government Flying Service located the man's body in a tree on the hillside around 2pm Sunday. He was declared dead at the scene.
The victim, surnamed Lee, had over ten years of mountaineering experience and regularly went hiking alone or with friends. Family members said he had proper hiking equipment and sometimes ventured into rugged terrain.
His body was airlifted to the Government Flying Service headquarters. Police have classified the case as discovery of a body and are investigating the cause of death pending an autopsy.
