Cyclist dies after being struck by truck in Tai Po

A 52-year-old cyclist died on Sunday after sustaining severe injuries when he was struck by a truck and pulled under its wheels in Tai Po. 

At around 1pm, a truck displaying a “P” plate was traveling along On Pong Road in Tai Po when it collided with the cyclist near the Tai Po Centre. 

The man was found unconscious and was rushed to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital for medical attention, but was later pronounced dead. 

The involved bicycle was moved to the side of the road, with its rear wheel twisted and deformed. 

The 20-year-old truck driver is arrested for “causing death by dangerous driving”.
