The rupture at 12.37pm damaged the pavement and prompted police to seal both directions of the road near the estate.
Water Supplies Department (WSD) crews swiftly isolated the pipe, but the break disrupted flushing supply to a wide swath of the district, including Tin Hau Temple Road, Lai Tak Tsuen, Serenade, Braemar Hill Mansions, Pacific Palisades, Evelyn Towers, Seaview Garden, and Sky Horizon.
While drinking water remains unaffected, the department warned residents to conserve flushing water overnight and promised rapid restoration once repairs conclude.
Traffic ground to a crawl as the closure rerouted KMB route 108 and Citybus lines 23B, 25, 25A, 27, 41A special trips, 81A, 85, 85A, and 85P, alongside green minibus routes 25 and 49M.
Commuters were advised to check operator apps for live updates.
