A post about the “most disgusting washroom ever” at Kowloon City Plaza has flushed the internet into chaos — quite literally — as Hongkongers rushed to nominate their own contenders for the city’s nastiest public toilet.
It all began when one unfortunate user shared a photo of the Kowloon City Plaza restroom, describing it as “the most disgusting washroom he has ever seen.” The picture showed a grim scene — a floor worn to a pale gray, dotted with black stains, looking like it hadn’t seen a mop in decades.
But netizens weren’t impressed. “That’s kids’ stuff,” one quipped, as hundreds chimed in with far worse horror stories from across the city.
Topping the unofficial “toilet terror” list was the men’s room at Tai On Building in Shau Kei Wan — a repeat offender in Hong Kong’s bathroom infamy.

Described by multiple commenters as something straight out of Saw, the grim facilities reportedly feature mold-covered tiles, rusty pipes, broken doors, and a general atmosphere of despair.
“I’ve lived in Sai Wan Ho for 20 years, but I’ve never dared to go in,” one user admitted. Another added, “It feels like a ghost will crawl out of the mirror.”
Other honorable mentions included the South Horizons Bus Terminus toilet — “I can smell it just from the photo,” one remarked — and the Dragon Centre restroom in Sham Shui Po, which a commenter described as a place to avoid “unless I really can’t hold it any longer.”
Still, the most relatable comment under the post didn’t name a toilet at all:
“I regret so much clicking in to read the comments.”
