Three teens arrested after 13-year-old boy assaulted over ‘attitude’ in Tsing Yi stairwell

A 13-year-old boy was attacked in a Tsing Yi estate stairwell last month after a dispute over attitude, prompting police to arrest three local boys aged 13 to 15 on suspicion of assault causing actual bodily harm on Friday.

The incident unfolded on October 6 inside Hong Kwai House at Cheung Hong Estate, where the victim clashed with another student.

During the argument, the 13-year-old was struck on his hand and back before the attacker fled.

He remained conscious and was taken to Princess Margaret Hospital for treatment.

Police received the report the following morning. After a thorough investigation involving uniformed patrol teams, community relations officers, and the anti-triad unit from Kwai Tsing District, detectives identified the suspects.

Yesterday, officers swooped in, detaining the trio in Tsing Yi and Kwun Tong.

The three boys are currently in custody as inquiries continue under the Kwai Tsing anti-triad unit, with the operation still active.

Under Hong Kong law, anyone convicted of assault causing actual bodily harm faces up to three years in prison.

Authorities stressed that high-visibility patrols and swift case resolution will remain priorities in the district to maintain public order.

They urged residents to stay within the law while pledging closer community ties, intelligence-led operations, and joint exercises with other units to prevent crime and protect lives and property.
