Eric Chan showcases HK's global edge to 10 nations including Bhutan and Myanmar

Chief Secretary Eric Chan Kwok-ki urged countries to tap Hong Kong's unique strengths as a global business gateway during a luncheon with officials from 10 nations visiting Hong Kong, spotlighting the city's role as a bridge between mainland China and the world.

Arranged by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in HKSAR, the government representatives from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Kyrgyzstan, Myanmar, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Timor-Leste, Mongolia, Tajikistan, and Brunei are visiting the city. 

Chan hosted the delegation for lunch on Thursday and shared insights on Hong Kong's latest developments and future opportunities.

He described Hong Kong as a "super connector" between mainland and Belt and Road Initiative countries, and even more so as a "super value-adder" capable of enhancing international partnerships.

Chan encouraged the officials to leverage the city's internationalized, market-oriented and business-friendly environment, along with its pool of professional services talent, to tap into worldwide business opportunities. 

After the luncheon, the delegation visited the West Kowloon Cultural District and the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks to foster potential collaborations in culture and arts, as well as broader people-to-people exchanges in the future.
