The Hong Kong Observatory may issue the Strong Wind Signal No. 3 directly between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Sunday as Tropical Cyclone Fengshen moves within 800 kilometers of the territory.
While southern China's coast remains mainly under the northeast monsoon's influence, Fengshen's gradual approach toward Guangdong has prompted the potential signal upgrade from the current Strong Monsoon Signal.
The combined effects of Fengshen and the monsoon will bring persistent winds, increasing cloud cover, and rain in the coming days. More frequent rainfall is expected Tuesday through early Wednesday, with urban temperatures dropping to around 19 degrees Celsius from Tuesday to Thursday, and slightly lower readings in the New Territories.
The convergence of spring tide, northeast monsoon, and Fengshen may cause flooding in low-lying coastal areas during high tides for several consecutive nights this week. Victoria Harbour water levels are forecast to reach approximately 3 meters above Chart Datum from Tuesday to Thursday evenings. The public is advised to monitor the Observatory's latest weather updates.
