A 53-year-old woman was found dead with severe neck injuries in Tin Shui Wai Park on Wednesday morning in what police are treating as a suspected suicide.
The tragic discovery was made around 5am near the park's exit adjacent to Tin Shui Estate at Tin Shui Road. Emergency responders pronounced the woman dead at the scene after finding her unconscious and covered in blood.
Police identified the deceased as a woman surnamed Leung. Officers discovered her body on a wooden bench near a pavilion within the park, her clothing heavily stained with blood. A preliminary examination revealed a substantial 10-centimeter by 5-centimeter wound to her neck.
Authorities recovered two knives from the vicinity – a 15-centimeter blade and a utility knife. While the case was initially treated as suspicious and referred to the regional crime unit, investigators later reclassified it as a suicide based on their preliminary findings.
The investigation revealed that the woman had been experiencing personal difficulties, though no suicide note was found at the scene. Police have indicated that the exact cause of death will be determined by an official autopsy.
The tragedy unfolded emotionally hours later when several family members, including the woman's husband, arrived to identify the body.
Overwhelmed with grief, the distraught husband cried out, "Wife, rest in peace, I will take care of our two daughters," before needing physical support from relatives.
