Citizens arrived on Monday afternoon to enjoy the Mid-Autumn Lantern Carnival at Victoria Park, taking advantage of the lighter crowds to capture photos with the stunning displays.
The carnival, organized by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, features lanterns themed on the 15th National Games, showcasing the Chinese White Dolphin mascots and competitive events hosted by Hong Kong.
Some families have set up picnic spots in advance and plan to return to admire the moonlight and displays, as well as participate in guessing lantern riddles.
Besides the Games-themed lanterns, the carnival also features traditional lanterns that highlight Hong Kong's cultural heritage, such as dragon boat racing, Cantonese opera and the art of mooncake making.
It also includes a 12-meter-tall lantern designed to resemble a crown, along with panda-themed displays.
The lights turned on at 6.30pm tonight and will remain illuminated until midnight.
In the evening, the park will also host ethnic song and dance performances, a Mid-Autumn market, traditional craft demonstrations, interactive riddle guessing, and an area for the National Games.
Additionally, the Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance will extend to football fields 5 and 6 in the park at 10.30pm.
