A hit-and-run incident in Tuen Mun on Friday has sparked public anger after a white minivan collided with a parked car near the MTR station, fled the scene, and was captured on video recklessly driving against traffic to evade responsibility.
The incident occurred at 9.43pm yesterday outside Exit F of Tuen Mun MTR Station.
Footage circulating online shows a white seven-seater minivan striking a dark-colored parked car, damaging its own front left side. Instead of stopping, the driver reversed and sped away.
Additional videos reveal the minivan’s erratic behavior as it fled, including crossing into oncoming traffic to bypass a red light and weaving around a taxi before making a sharp turn past a traffic island to escape along Kin Fung Street toward Shing Wan Road.
One clip showed two police vehicles stationed nearby, though it remains unclear if officers were present or took immediate action.
At 9.46pm, the owner of the struck vehicle, a man surnamed Yeung, reported the collision to police, noting that the other driver had fled. Authorities confirmed no injuries were reported in the incident.
Social media erupted with criticism, with many speculating about the driver’s motives, some suggesting intoxication or likening the vehicle to a drug delivery van.
Others noted the minivan’s license plate was clearly visible in the footage, urging the driver to turn themselves in.
