A lavish standalone house in Bougainvillea Gardens on Silver Crest Road in Sai Kung became the scene of a high-stakes burglary on Friday morning, with losses estimated at HK$5 million after thieves reportedly ransacked the property and tampered with a safe.
Around 11am today, the female head of a renovation company alerted police after the household’s domestic helper noticed signs of a break-in at the upscale residence.
The worker discovered the home in disarray, with a safe forcibly opened, sparking immediate concern.
The homeowner, currently overseas, was not present during the incident, leaving the property vulnerable.
Early assessments suggest the intruders made off with valuables worth around HK$5 million, prompting police to classify the case as a burglary and launch a thorough investigation.
Detectives descended on the scene, combing the mansion for clues. They climbed to the rooftop to inspect potential entry points and scoured the area for evidence.
Officers also examined footage from a private car parked outside the property, hoping its recordings might capture suspicious activity or the culprits’ movements.
