The Immigration Department (ImmD) recorded 187,000 inbound and outbound travelers at various control points as of 10am on the first day of the National Day Golden Week (Oct 1),
The number of inbound travelers exceeded 100,000, with approximately 64,000 entering the city from the mainland.
The West Kowloon High-Speed Rail Station processed the majority of mainland visitors with 14,200 entries, followed by the Lok Ma Chau Spur Line Control Point with 11,900.
The Shenzhen Bay Port and Lo Wu Control Point handled 11,600 and 8,443 mainland visitors, respectively.
About 65,300 Hong Kong residents departed the city, which is largely attributed to the extended holiday period. As the Mid-Autumn Festival closely follows National Day, working professionals could enjoy a seven-day break by taking three additional days off.
Hong Kong International Airport recorded 13,800 residents departing the city this morning, followed by 11,300 residents leaving via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.
The Lo Wu Control Point, Lok Ma Chau Spur Line Control Point, and Shenzhen Bay Port recorded 10,300, 6,916, and 6,385 resident departures, respectively.
Additionally, the Transport Department has coordinated with local and cross-boundary public transport operators to enhance services during peak travel hours between October 1 and 8.
The frequency of the Golden Bus routes will be increased to an average of about one minute during peak hours, while the Yellow Bus routes will operate at a maximum frequency of about two minutes.
