A serious traffic accident in Fanling on Monday afternoon left an elderly woman injured after being hit by a Tesla, with police arresting the driver on suspicion of dangerous driving.
The collision occurred in Fanling around 4pm today when a Tesla traveling along San Wan Road toward Sheung Shui struck an elderly woman crossing the street near Fanling Recreation Ground.
Witnesses reported that the woman was initially conscious but soon fell into a coma, prompting her swift transfer to Prince of Wales Hospital by ambulance.
Police arrived at the scene and arrested the male driver, suspecting dangerous driving as they began their investigation into the incident.
A dashcam video circulating online captured the moments leading up to the crash, showing the Tesla moving at considerable speed along San Wan Road.
The traffic light at the Pik Fung Road junction remained green, but the elderly woman unexpectedly darted across the road against the signal.
The driver of the vehicle recording the footage attempted to warn the Tesla driver by sounding their horn, possibly due to the presence of an ambulance nearby.
Despite this, the Tesla driver appeared unaware of the pedestrian, leading to the collision.
