Charges for metered parking spaces increased to $16 per hour

The maximum fee for metered parking spaces has been increased to HK$4 per 15 minutes, effective today (Sep 28).

The adjustment will raise the hourly charge to HK$16. However, fees for metered parking spaces for goods vehicles, buses, and coaches will remain unchanged at the existing rate of HK$2 per 15 minutes.

The Transport and Logistics Bureau expects the new arrangement to enhance turnover and ensure spaces meet short-term parking needs.

According to the bureau's statistics, Hong Kong has 20,000 metered parking spaces as of the end of 2024. The majority of these spaces are available from 8am to midnight on weekdays, and from 10am to 10pm on general holidays.

The bureau has previously stated that the fixed penalties for illegal parking and the majority of traffic violations have not been adjusted for 31 years.
