A dispute over classroom air conditioning temperature escalated dramatically at a secondary school on Tai Po's Chui Yi Street on Friday, leading to the arrest of a 15-year-old female student who allegedly attacked a 13-year-old male classmate with a ballpoint pen.
The incident, which unfolded around noon, prompted school staff to call police after the argument over the thermostat setting turned physical. It is understood that the two students involved allegedly got into a dispute over the classroom air conditioner’s temperature.
According to initial reports, the girl allegedly used the common stationery item as a weapon during the altercation.
The male student sustained injuries to his hand, face, and head from the pen, while the female student also suffered leg injuries in the scuffle.
Paramedics responded to the scene and transported both teenagers to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital for treatment.
Following a preliminary investigation, police arrested the 15-year-old girl on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. She remains in custody for further questioning as officers from the Tai Po District Crime Squad continue their investigation into the unusual schoolyard incident that left classmates and teachers stunned.
