The government will promote greater synergy among the city’s sports venues, announcing a review of the Hong Kong Stadium’s future positioning to ensure it complements the Kai Tak Sports Park.

John Lee stated that authorities will leverage the stadium’s existing facilities to support broader sports development.
This includes repurposing space to serve as offices for national sports associations (NSAs), hosting matches and training sessions, and staging large-scale sporting events.
In a move to elevate Hong Kong’s international sporting profile, the government has secured a multi-year partnership with LIV Golf, one of the world’s premier golf tours, aimed at attracting more top-tier athletes to compete in the city.
Meanwhile, the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China will prioritize collaboration with national sports associations that have robust governance frameworks.
This effort will expedite the implementation of a new Code of Governance and establish a clear governance paradigm for the sector.
“The government will strive to support Asian or international sports associations to establish presence in Hong Kong through NSAs, while encouraging NSAs to participate in the work of these associations to strengthen the city's international voice and influence,” Lee said.
Looking ahead to the 15th National Games this November, Lee committed that Hong Kong “will spare no effort” in successfully staging its share of the competitions and will work closely with counterparts in Guangdong and Macao to ensure the event’s overall success.
