The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) has reinforced its position as a leading global venue after hosting 786 events and welcoming over 7.8 million attendees during the 2024-25 financial year.
The events included 120 exhibitions and 90 international and local conferences—among them 31 entirely new events—alongside hundreds of corporate meetings and banquets.
The new additions covered a wide range of sectors, including cryptocurrency, Web3, fintech, sustainability, arts, tourism, and Greater Bay Area development.
One of the most notable debuts was Consensus Hong Kong 2025, the Asian expansion of the world’s leading cryptocurrency and blockchain conference.
The event drew nearly 10,000 participants from 102 countries and regions, 75 percent of whom were international visitors. It was accompanied by over 350 side events across the city and generated an estimated HK$275 million in economic impact.
Monica Lee-Müller, Managing Director of the HKCEC, highlighted the centre’s success in attracting and retaining world-class events.
“We are encouraged to see these results, which reflect that Hong Kong’s unique advantages as a super connector for hosting international events remain and reaffirm the HKCEC’s position as an ideal choice for exhibition and event organisers looking for a world-class venue, professional services and comprehensive solutions.” She noted.
Other first-time events included the Hong Kong Holiday & Travel Expo, the International Society for Stem Cell Research Annual Meeting, and the Asian Pacific Society of Respirology Congress.
According to the HKCEC, it will host several major new events in the coming months, including the Greater Bay Area Education and Talent Expo in October and the 9th World Congress of Pediatric Cardiology & Cardiac Surgery in December, which is expected to attract 3,500 medical experts from around the world.
The centre will also welcome the inaugural LEAP East tech trade fair in July 2026, further strengthening Hong Kong’s role as a premier destination for international business and innovation.
