Aeon's budget lifestyle stores Living Plaza and Daiso have shuttered four Hong Kong locations within a month, with final closing sales offering up to 70% discounts before their operational termination.
Social media discussions on Facebook page "Aeon Channel" attributed the closures to two primary factors: fierce competition from mainland e-commerce platform Pinduoduo making in-store shopping "less essential," and poor store locations that were "inconveniently positioned" for general shoppers.

Both retail chains under Aeon Group specialize in HK$12 household products, with Living Plaza focusing on practical daily goods and Daiso offering trendy Japanese imports since its 2021 Hong Kong launch through a licensing agreement with Daiso Industries Co., Ltd.
The closures reflect broader challenges in Hong Kong's retail sector, particularly for physical stores facing growing pressure from cross-border e-commerce platforms.
The affected stores include:
Daiso Japan Wan Tau Tong Shop (closed August 3)
Living PLAZA by AEON Marina Square Shop (closed August 20)
Living PLAZA by AEON Sheung Wan Shop (closing August 24)
Living PLAZA by AEON Tai Hing Shop (closing August 31)
