A man was found dead in the Tsing Yi waters on Monday morning, with authorities confirming him as the missing motorcyclist who fell from Tsing Ma Bridge last Wednesday (Jul 30).
Police received a report around 7.50am of a man floating in the waters approximately 50 meters away from the Hongkong United Dockyards.
Rescue workers retrieved the man from the water, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following an investigation, the police confirmed that the deceased was a 51-year-old man surnamed Chui, who had gone missing after falling from the Tsing Ma Bridge last Wednesday.
According to reports, Chui’s motorcycle was parked in the slow lane heading towards the airport. He reportedly jumped from the bridge when he noticed a staff member approaching.
Following the incident, no signs of Chui were found until this morning.
The case has been classified as a suicide, and the cause of death is pending a forensic autopsy.
