Hongkong Post announced the launch of a special stamp collection celebrating the first birthday of the city’s beloved giant panda twins, "Jia Jia" and "De De."
The commemorative set on the theme of "Giant Panda Twin Cubs" will go on sale starting August 15, coinciding with the cubs’ milestone birthday.
The collection includes six vividly designed stamps, two stamp sheetlets, and a range of associated philatelic products, capturing adorable moments from the cubs’ daily lives at different growth stages.
The stamps showcase their playful antics and development, offering fans a charming glimpse into their journey at Ocean Park.
Starting August 1, official first-day covers will be available for purchase at all post offices and through Hong Kong Post’s online shopping platform, ShopThruPost (shopthrupost.hongkongpost.hk).
The special stamps and related products will be widely available from August 15 at all post offices and online. However, exclusive items such as serviced first day covers affixed with the special stamps, postage prepaid picture cards (air mail), and collector’s packs will only be sold at philatelic offices.
Additionally, Hongkong Post will introduce a "Giant Panda Twin Cubs" commemorative cachet from August 15, allowing the public to stamp their mail with a special panda-themed design. The cachet will be available at all post offices - excluding mobile post offices - until further notice.
The Central Government gifted a pair of giant pandas, Ying Ying and Le Le, to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2007. The pair welcomed a pigeon pair of cubs on August 15, 2024. The twin cubs are the first giant pandas successfully bred and born in Hong Kong, and Ying Ying is the world's oldest first-time giant panda mother.
