Japanese idol Kamimura Kenshin, a 26-year-old member of the boy band ONE N' ONLY, appeared at the West Kowloon Magistrates’ Courts on Wednesday and pleaded not guilty to a charge of indecent assault.
The alleged incident involves a female interpreter and reportedly took place during a celebration dinner following a fan meeting event in March.
The trial has drawn significant public interest, with fans and public members queuing early outside the courthouse to secure seats in the public gallery.
Unwanted Contact by Kamimura
According to court testimony, the interpreter, referred to as X, is a Japanese language teacher who was hired to assist the defendant Kamimura and fellow Japanese actor Motojima Junsei during a fan meeting at the Regala Skycity Hotel on March 1, 2025. Following the event, X joined the group for a celebration dinner that evening at Ming Kee restaurant in Mong Kok.
During a toasting session, Kamimura allegedly approached X and sat down beside her. X testified that she suddenly felt something brushing the inner side of her left thigh and saw Kamimura touching her with the back of his right hand. Although she pulled away, he allegedly touched her again and lightly patted her thigh over her skirt.
X described his hand as “very large, with the fingertips touching the inner side of my thigh,” estimating the contact lasted one to two seconds.
“Do you want to go to the bathroom outside together?”
X further testified that Kamimura repeatedly showed her his LINE QR code under the table, using eye contact to prompt her to add him. When she ignored him, he used a translation app to ask, “Do you want to go to the bathroom outside together?”, a question he allegedly repeated two to three times.
Kamimura asked X in Japanese about her language proficiency. When she replied, “I can understand most of it,” he clarified, “Do you understand what I mean by the bathroom outside?” and then asked, “Do you want to go together?” X declined, responding, “If you want to go, go by yourself.”
Feeling frightened, X excused herself under the pretense of pouring tea at another table. However, Kamimura reportedly followed her, blocked her path, and asked again, “Can we meet outside?” She rejected the request.
After X told Kamimura she had a boyfriend, he apologized, saying, “Sorry, forget what just happened.” He then asked if she was married and whether she planned to marry her boyfriend, to which X confirmed. Kamimura allegedly touched her thigh again, brushing and patting the area two to three more times.
Feeling unsafe, X reported the incident to staff and, with help from a social worker, filed a police report the next day.Kamimura was arrested on March 2 at around 10pm at the New World Millennium Hotel in Mong Kok. He had no prior criminal record in Hong Kong at the time of the incident.
The trial continues.
