The incident occurred around 11pm at The Horizon on Fo Chun Road, where the 23-year-old woman, Leung, reportedly confronted her 27-year-old boyfriend, Chung, for logging into her mobile banking account.
The altercation quickly intensified when Leung allegedly brandished a 25-centimeter fruit knife at Chung, whose left hand was slashed while trying to intervene.
Chung walked out of the apartment and sought assistance from a neighbor in the corridor, prompting them to call the police.
Upon police arrival, Chung was found conscious and was taken to Prince of Wales Hospital for treatment.
A preliminary investigation suggests the incident stemmed from a minor dispute, with Leung currently detained and facing arrest on suspicion of "wounding".
The case has been assigned to the District Investigation Team of Tai Po District.
Reports indicated that the couple have been living together for several years, with Chung working as a businessman and Leung as a beautician.
