Hong Kong will hold its Legislative Council election on December 7, with voters set to elect 90 members across geographical constituencies, functional constituencies, and the Election Committee constituency.
The government has announced plans to establish approximately 600 polling stations, including two special border polling stations near Sheung Shui MTR station.
In documents submitted to the Legislative Council, authorities revealed that most polling stations - including general stations, Election Committee stations, and those at police stations - will operate from 8.30am to 10.30pm. Voting stations at correctional facilities will have shorter hours from 9am to 4pm.
The two proposed border polling stations, to be located at schools near Sheung Shui MTR station, will require voters to complete online registration in advance.
The Registration and Electoral Office is considering whether additional border polling locations might be needed.
For the first time, the Election Committee constituency will have a dedicated polling station at the Wan Chai Convention and Exhibition Centre, where members can cast ballots for all three types of seats.
The election will see a mix of counting methods - geographical constituency ballots will be counted manually at individual polling stations, while functional and Election Committee constituency votes will be tallied centrally.
Most stations will continue using the electronic voter registration system, except for a few with unstable network coverage. Special arrangements will remain for voters with disabilities or special needs, including priority queues and seating areas.
