Tropical Storm Danas is expected to pass about 400 kilometers east to southeast of Hong Kong tonight through Sunday morning.
The Hong Kong Observatory has announced that the Standby Signal No. 1 will remain in effect at least until noon tomorrow (Jul 6).
According to the latest forecast, Danas will accelerate northeastward toward the western coast of Taiwan and the vicinity of the Taiwan Strait, gradually moving away from Hong Kong.
The observatory stated it will cancel all tropical cyclone warning signals once the storm no longer poses a threat to the territory.
High temperatures are expected to persist in Hong Kong tomorrow and may trigger showers and squally thunderstorms. Very hot weather is forecast to continue for the next few days.
The observatory warned of swells in coastal waters and advised the public to stay away from shorelines and avoid water sports. Residents are urged to monitor the latest weather updates from the Observatory.
