Secretary for Education Christine Choi Yuk-lin emphasized on handover day (July 1) the government's commitment to prioritizing patriotic education and its support for schools in advancing national education.
Her comments were made during a flag-raising ceremony at the Patriotic Education Centre, which marked the 28th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland.
The education chief emphasized that the flag-raising ceremony will foster a sense of belonging and pride in the nation among teachers and students, thereby further enhancing their national identity.
Choi emphasized that the Education Bureau has continued to refine the curriculum while enhancing teacher training to deliver national education within and beyond the classroom.
Separately, Choi highlighted that technology will never replace teachers' role in cultivating students' values and character, as well as promoting cultural heritage.
She encouraged teachers to uphold their mission of imparting knowledge and moral principles, while effectively leveraging artificial intelligence to improve teaching effectiveness.
