MTR extends pet-friendly light rail trial until end-August 

MTR will extend the two-month trial program, allowing passengers to travel with their dogs and cats on light rail trains until the end of August, to further assess the scheme’s implementation.

According to its announcement released on Monday, the public response to the scheme has been generally positive, with smooth operations maintained and recognition from various sectors.

The corporation is currently reviewing the scheme’s implementation and consolidating and analyzing feedback collected since its launch in May.

Meanwhile, observers have been arranged to ride on the Light Rail, while staff stationed at key stops are deployed to assist passengers in need.

Observations indicate that most pet owners have complied with the regulations, traveling on the light rail at designated locations during permitted times, as well as using approved methods.

The “Cat/Dog Carrying Pass” for July is available through the MTR Mobile app.
