The MTR Corporation has begun distributing complimentary single-journey tickets to eligible MTR Mobile members, following a power fault that caused a full suspension of the line during rush hour on May 22.
To receive the free ticket, passengers must have been registered as MTR Mobile members and used an Octopus card to enter or exit any Tseung Kwan O Line station between May 18 and June 15.
The free ride voucher will be automatically deposited into eligible accounts today (June 20) and can be claimed until January 2 next year.
Once claimed, the free ticket must be used within 30 days and is valid for one local MTR journey. However, it cannot be used for the Airport Express, High-Speed Rail, Light Rail, First Class on the East Rail Line, trips to Lo Wu or Lok Ma Chau stations, or MTR buses and feeder services.
How to claim your free ride via MTR Mobile:
1. Log in to the MTR Mobile app and go to "My collections" under the "MTR Points" section.
2. Select "MTR Free Domestic Ride" and tap "Get your rewards," then confirm to claim the ticket.
3. Upon successful redemption, a QR code for the free journey (displayed in dark blue) will be issued.
