Former world snooker champion Neil Robertson has become the latest elite athlete to call Hong Kong home after securing residency through the city's Quality Migrant Admission Scheme.
The Australian-born player, currently ranked eighth worldwide, announced the milestone on social media, describing it as both a personal achievement and a family honor.
Robertson cemented Hong Kong's significance in his career with a dominant performance at the 2025 World Grand Prix, where he clinched the title with a stunning 10-0 victory over Stuart Bingham at Kai Tak Arena. The 43-year-old reflected on his multiple tournament successes in the city, remarking that Hong Kong had been incredibly good to him throughout his snooker journey.
The 2010 world champion follows in the footsteps of snooker greats Ronnie O'Sullivan and Judd Trump in establishing formal ties with Hong Kong.
Robertson revealed his new residency status will enable more frequent visits as he develops undisclosed business ventures in the city, with detailed plans expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
Widely regarded as Australia's greatest ever snooker player, the Melbourne-born Robertson has left an indelible mark on the sport. Known as one of snooker's most formidable left-handed players, he achieved the world No. 1 ranking in 2010—the same year he claimed his maiden World Championship title.
