Motorists in Kowloon Bay got an unexpected water spectacle on Tuesday morning when a burst pipe shot a towering 20-meter geyser into the air—giving the neighborhood an impromptu "water salute" usually reserved for celebrations.

The salty surprise erupted at 11.07am on Hoi Bun Road near Hung Yip Street, where a high-pressure underground pipe burst beneath a roadside planter.
The powerful jet of water, mixed with sand and mud, created a dramatic fountain effect that drenched passing motorcyclists and left cars splashing through what suddenly became urban rapids.
"My bike and I got the full VIP treatment—just without the VIP drying service,” said one soaked delivery rider who got an unplanned shower.

Police quickly cordoned off part of the road toward Yau Tong as workers scrambled to shut off the valves. The burst left two gaping holes in the flower bed, turning the area into what looked like a mini construction site.
For locals, it was just another day in Hong Kong—where you never know when the streets might decide to put on a show. Next time, maybe bring an umbrella... just in case.
