The incident involved a 900-millimeter underground fresh water main, leading to the closure of the fast and middle lanes on the Yuen Long-bound side for emergency repairs.
The resulting congestion stretched back to On Ting Estate at its peak, while Wong Chu Road leading to Tuen Mun Road also experienced heavy traffic, with queues extending to Lung Fu Road near Lung Yat Estate.

At around 9am this morning, the Water Supplies Department provided an update on its Facebook page, confirming that the leak came from a 900mm fresh water main but assuring residents that water supply remained unaffected.
It wrote that the repair teams are working to locate the exact leakage point and have intensified pumping efforts to reduce water accumulation on the road.
Additionally, radar inspections have been arranged to assess underground conditions along Tuen Mun Road. The department is closely monitoring repair progress to reopen the affected lanes as soon as possible, the post read.
The Transport Department advised that due to the burst pipe, the fast and middle lanes near MTR’s Siu Hong Station remain closed, leaving only one lane open for traffic.
Several bus routes, including Long Win Bus services A33, A33X, A36, A37, E36, E36A, and E37, as well as MTR Bus K54, have been diverted.
Authorities urged drivers heading from urban areas to Yuen Long to consider alternative routes, such as Tai Lam Tunnel. Commuters were also advised to check for service updates on Kowloon Motor Bus (KMB) and Long Win Bus routes affected by the incident and to explore other public transport options, including MTR services.
